A Chess Competition

Yesterday was the big day of my school's Chinese Chess Competition. The invited chess players made a beeline entering the school hall for the competition.

When I reached the hall, the competition was about to start. My competitor assigned was Jack. We were both at Chinese Chess Level 17. At the beginning, we sat almost motionless, staring at the chess pieces and pondering how to win the game. Once we started to move, our speed was faster and faster. After a while, he almost won me. The situation was desperate that he surrounded most of my vital chess pieces. I had to take a bet! I then made some strange steps to distract him. After a few steps, I ate his most powerful one. His jaw dropped to the floor and he cannot make a single movement in one minute. In the end, I ate all his chess. His eyes welled up in tears. A gigantic grin spread across my face and my eyes lit up like the sky on the first of October. I had not ever thought that I would have such a great success.

I returned to my classroom just before lunch. The teachers took the chess pieces back into the big box. I just went to eat lunch and study as usual, but my heart leaped with joy.
